WTVJ, broadcasting from Miami, Florida, began operation on January 27, with temporary authorization from the Federal Communications Commission. Forty-three years later WTVJ weatherman Bryan Norcross broadcasts for 22 hours helping radio and television listeners to survive Hurricane Andrew.
